Sujith Nayak : “I wanted to be an Actor but I ended up being an Editor”

Sujith Nayak Tulucinema.com “A and C got replaced in my life to E, D and I. I wanted to be an Actor but I ended up being an Editor”.

Sujith Nayak was born in a GSB family in Bantwal, Karnataka. He is son of Satish Nayak and Shakuntala Nayak. He stepped to the Garden city Bangalore as a child along with his parents and siblings. “How can anybody forget Tulu when you hail from Tulunadu?” He was proud to be interviewed by Tulucinema.com in Tulu.

“I bunked classes during my college days to watch Movies“. ‘Animation was my passion’ he added saying I continued the journey of animation and advanced in it. I learned the courses like VFX to excel in Animation. He exhibited his skill in the beginning by freelancer jobs in advertisements. For about 2 years the saga remained in the world of advertisement. He then joined the well-known media ’Udaya TV ’ in Bangalore, slowly made my first move to the cinema world as editor”.

The role of an editor is vital in cinema. The activity of an Editor may not be easily seen, however the role played by them is immense to deliver a movie. To give a ’Ants eye view ’ explaining about the editors role, Mr. Sujith Nayak said “ we get the raw movie scene clips and we select the best one, we then send it for dubbing and complete the final trimming . Sounds easy but the tough work takes 2 months to hand over the final work”.

‘Soombe‘, has been his memorable movie as he worked as an independent editor. This movie was directed by Sai Krishna. Ever since then he has worked in many famous movies like ‘Dhand, Chandikori, Bolli, Dhombarata, Panoda Bodcha, Barsa. He has also worked for Konkani movie Ek Asler Ek Na. He is well pleased with his contribution to the Kannada film Industry. He has worked in movies like Anjali, Boogatha Pootagalu, Ravisivathsaz, Mooka Hakki, [.Rec] are yet to be released. His future projects includes Shastra (will be releasing in 7 languages), Devarane Bidu Guru (Kannada), Jungle Cafe (will be releasing in 7 languages), Wonderfull (will be releasing in 5 languages including Hindi).

Tulu Industry has always loved me. I got huge support from Kapikad sir, Arjun Kapikad, Sharmila Madam, Sai Krishna sir, Sachin sir and Rajesh Kudla sir. I get relentless love from the people and from the industry here. He added by saying “I am greatly indebted to Sai Krishna Sir who introduced me to the world of editing “.

Mr Sujith has been honoured for his excellence as ‘Best editor 2015 -State Award’, RedFM (Tulu Film Award) Best editor award of the year 2015 and a prestigious title of ‘Sankalana Sarvabawma’ from Navabharath Geleyara Balaga, Indabettu Belthangady.
