‘Thelikeda Bolli’ Devdas Kapikad to receive Honorary Doctorate from Mangalore University.

Devdas Kapikad Tulu film Industry known as “Master”, for his close friends know as ‘Devu’, for his fans know as ‘Kapikad’ started his career as orchestra singer then as theater artist to Tulu film Industry and shown his versatile skills to the audience. His contribution towards growth of Tulu film industry is immense.

Mangalore University to felicitate Honorary Doctorate to Devdas Kapikad for Fine Arts (Tulucinema/Tulu Drama), Smt. Hemavathi V Heggade for the Education & Social Service and Harikrishna Punarooru for Social Service & Literature during the 40th annual convocation.

Devdas Kapikad has a title ‘Thelikeda Bolli’ by one of his fans from among 30,000 odd letters was given to Prof. Amritha Someshwara who picked the title recommended by one Chandrakala from Kulai.

Started theater performance with his own written ‘Bale Cha Parka’ which went ahead to make history in Tulu theatre. He has written and directed more than 45 dramas in Tulu language.

His first film “Sathya Olundu,” by famous director Aruru Pattabhi.later acted in server Tulu films. Kapikad directed five Tulu films, ‘Jabardasth Shankara’ was his directed last film, released on year 2019.

Kapikad worked on areas like Director, Producer, Lyricist, Singer, Writer also Music Director for a theater and Tulu film Industry. He also acted in sandalwood film ‘Venkata Inn Sankata’ with Ramesh Aravind also ‘Karthik’.
